Palembang – Kompolnas member Dede Farhan Aulawi asked the South Sumatra Regional Police officers in seven districts to hold local elections simultaneously on December 9, 2020 to be neutral or not take sides with one of the candidate pairs.
The request was made when conducting a video conference monitoring the readiness of securing the simultaneous regional elections in 2020 along with seven South Sumatra Regional Police, said Dede Farhan Aulawi during a working visit in Palembang on Friday.
Specifically in South Sumatra Province, this year’s regional head elections were held simultaneously in seven police areas, namely Ogan Ilir Regional Police, Pali Regional Police, Ogan Komering Ulu Regional Police (OKU), East OKU, South OKU, Musirawas, and North Musirawas Regional Police.
The regional Kasatwil in the districts that will hold simultaneous local elections stated their readiness in securing the election of regent and deputy regent by following health protocol standards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
To secure the implementation of the elections in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic, Polri personnel in this area must not only follow the health protocol but must also be neutral.
All South Sumatra Regional Police personnel need to maintain neutrality so that a safe, peaceful and quality election can be realized.
With maximum preparation and maintaining neutrality, it is hoped that the South Sumatra Regional Police and the ranks of the seven regencies holding regional elections will be able to carry out the task of guarding the people’s democratic party well, said Dede Farhan. (Ant)
