Tito Karnavian Invited Influencers to Help the Government to Increase Voter Participation

Jakarta – Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian invited influential millennials on social media to help the government to increase voter participation in the simultaneous election of regional leaders in 2020.

“Millennials are all moving, social media influencers are all moving. Just play the issue of the ability of regions to deal with problems in their respective regions,” Tito said in an online seminar themed ‘What’s New from General Elections in the New Normal Period ‘which was watched in Jakarta, Saturday (07/04/2020) night.

Tito Karnavian hopes that the target of voter participation in the simultaneous local elections can be more than 50 percent.

“The target of participation, obviously we expect above 50 percent. If it can be higher, the better,” said Tito

According to the Chairman of the KPU Arief Budiman, the number of voters in the 2020 elections based on June 9 data was around 106 million people (106,774,112 people).

Thus, the Minister of Home Affairs expects voter participation in the 2020 elections to be half that is above 53 million people (53,387,056 people). (Ant)
