Jakarta – Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko revealed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has several times warned ministers and leaders of state institutions to work extra hard to be able to overcome the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, according to Moeldoko, at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday, there were no significant results from the performance of ministers and institutional leaders, so President Jokowi at the plenary cabinet meeting on June 18 2020 gave a stern warning.
“The president is worried that some of his aides feel that the situation is normal. For this reason, this is a warning for the umpteenth time,” he said.
Moeldoko said the ministers and heads of state institutions had to work extraordinarily to reduce the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic felt by the community. Ministers and leaders of institutions must ensure that all policies taken by the government are effective, efficient, accountable and well targeted.
“The president has said this several times and there are still some in the field that are not in line with his expectations,” he said.
The President requested that the handling of public health be a priority in every COVID-19 pandemic policy. Then, the policy of social and economic recovery due to COVID-19 must also be accelerated.
President Jokowi in the plenary cabinet meeting on June 18, 2020 gave a strong reprimand to the ministers and leaders of state institutions who were slow in realizing the policy of handling COVID-19. The President even mentioned the cabinet reshuffle option in front of the Indonesian Cabinet Ministers in the cabinet meeting.
In his briefing, the President expressed his disappointment at the performance of the ministers who were considered to have not provided significant progress.
“I see, there are still many of us who are as usual. I am annoyed there. This has no feeling. The atmosphere is a crisis,” the President said in a video uploaded via the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel, Sunday (6/28). (Ant)
