Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) warned the Indonesian Cabinet ministers who were still working mediocre during the COVID-19 pandemic to change the way it worked.
“These feelings must be the same. We must understand this. Don’t be mediocre, don’t be linear, don’t assume this is normal. It’s very dangerous for us, I see that many of us still think this is normal,” President Jokowi said, when delivering directions in a cabinet meeting plenary, at the State Palace on 18 June 2020.
The video directed by President Jokowi was just released by the Bureau of Press, Media and Information of the Presidential Secretariat on the Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday.
In this direction, President Jokowi even opened the option to “reshuffle” ministers or dissolve institutions that were still working mediocre.
“It could be, dissolve the institution, it could be a ‘reshuffle’. I have been thinking about anything, whether it’s for perppu (government regulation to replace the law) which is even more important. If it is indeed necessary. Because indeed this atmosphere must exist, if you ladies and gentlemen don’t feel that,” President Jokowi said, raising his hands.
Present at the plenary session were Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, the ministers of the Indonesia Maju Cabinet and the heads of state institutions.
“So if I see the ladies and gentlemen still see this as still normal, it is very dangerous. Work is still mediocre. This work must indeed be extra-ordinary, ‘extraordinary’,” the President also said.
The president also requested that the ministers have a feeling that is working in a crisis.
“These feelings should be the same. We must have the same feelings. If there is only one difference, it is dangerous, so our actions, decisions and policies must have an atmosphere of crisis. Don’t mediocre policies consider this a normalcy. “What the hell is this,” the President said again.
The President himself has issued two Perppu since the COVID pandemic occurred, namely Perppu No. 1 of 2020 concerning State Financial Policies and Financial System Stability for Handling the COVID-19 Pandemic and / or In the Context of Facing Threats that Harm National Economy and / or Financial System Stability. The Perppu has been ratified as Law No. 2 of 2020 on May 12, 2020.
The President also issued Perppu No. 2 of 2020 concerning the Third Amendment to Law No. 1 of 2015 concerning Stipulation of Perppu No. 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents and Mayors.
“If I need a Perppu policy, I will issue a Perppu. If it needs a Perppu, then I issue a Perppu. If there is a PMK (Minister of Finance Regulation), remove it.
The president also expressed his annoyance, because he considered there were still ministers who were still working mediocre.
“I see, there are still many of us who are as usual. I am annoyed there. This has no feeling. The atmosphere is a crisis,” said President Jokowi again. (Ant)
