Jakarta – Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Tjahjo Kumolo supports the strengthening of state strategic institutions such as the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) through institutional arrangements.
That is because the two institutions played an important role in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It should be appreciated by all of us. Going forward, institutional strengthening of BIN and BNPB needs to be supported and based on legislation and applicable legal provisions,” Minister Tjahjo said in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday.
He added that global developments and dynamics demanded that the Indonesian people be able to respond to problems quickly and think comprehensively, especially to deal with threats to the nation and state.

BIN has also conducted COVID-19 rapid tests in bulk at a number of strategic points such as the electric railroad station (KRL) and integrated highway mode (MRT).
In addition, BIN is also working with Airlangga University Surabaya to research the development of vaccines and medicines for COVID-19 patients in Indonesia. This was part of BIN’s humanitarian intelligence operations.
Tjahjo also appreciated the role of the TNI / Polri, ministries, regional governments as well as various elements of the community and the private sector who had worked together to help the central government overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Tjahjo, institutional strengthening of the TNI and Polri is also a necessity so that they can be more maximized in carrying out their roles.
