Surabaya – Chairman of the DPD RI AA La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti reminded the importance of the three sectors of resilience that must be a priority for the government at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic plus the threat of a real global recession.
“The three sectors of resilience are health, food and social,” he said in a press release received by Antara in Surabaya, Saturday afternoon.
The message was also delivered during a national oration entitled “The Challenges of Indonesia in the Pandemic Period COVID-19” on the sidelines of the Virtual PB IKAMI National Work Meeting in South Sulawesi.
At present, he said, Indonesia is calling on all stakeholders to unite and work together to face the Corona outbreak, including students to take part in dealing with the present situation.
What is clear, he said, Indonesia must try to accelerate in increasing the resilience of the three sectors.
“Because, if food security is weak, then people cannot eat, it can be imagined damage in the social security sector,” he said.
According to him, there is a signal of a global crisis due to COVID-19 which could spread to the world food crisis so that it must quickly return to the republic’s nature as an agrarian and maritime country.
“That is why it strengthens the Indonesian Food sector. Let’s help the government find the right direction. Help accelerate and guard the scale of development priorities in the context of managing the impact of the epidemic,” he said.
The former Chair of the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) also appealed to all elements of society to stop the polemics that trigger unnecessary noise.
“I want to leave a message to the students who are members of IKAMI South Sulawesi that Indonesia not only needs superior human resources, but also has noble character. One more thing, I entrust the young generation to be able to help the government,” he said.
On the same occasion, South Sulawesi Deputy Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman hoped that South Sulawesi IKAMI would continue to build synergy with local governments.
“Vice versa, the Provincial Government of South Sulawesi will also be committed to supporting the activities of the South Sulawesi IKAMI,” he said. (Ant)
