Jakarta – Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that in the new normal era, the COVID-19 pandemic changed people’s spending behavior which impacted on the acceleration of digital business transformation, including on Small and Medium Industries (IKM)

Based on Bank Indonesia data, there was a surge in online trade transactions by 18.1 percent to 98.3 million transactions in March 2020 with the total transaction value increasing 9.9 percent to Rp20.7 trillion.

“Online sales make it easier to market Indonesian industrial products which are also useful for revitalizing SMIs towards Industry 4.0,” said the Minister of Industry at the launch of the #SemAllAdaDisini campaign virtually on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan explained about the movements that prioritize online sales, one of which through the marketplace is believed to be able to accelerate economic turnaround.

Thus, these efforts can be a means of economic equality throughout Indonesia, and show partisanship for domestic products.

“As directed by President Joko Widodo, our target is two million MSMEs to enter the digital ecosystem. Today we already have a total of 8.6 million in the digital ecosystem. We have all demonstrated commitment by providing various support for MSMEs, such as online training, e-learning, licensing relaxation,” said Luhut Pandjaitan.

The Director General of Small and Medium Industries and Miscellaneous (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih, said that they are also trying to build networks between SMEs as part of the supply chain with large industries.

“Bringing SMEs closer to large-scale industries, will provide opportunities for SMEs to develop and contribute to the domestic industry supply chain,” said Gati.

She added that the entry of SMIs into the digital ecosystem is an effective way to understand the needs of the community and demand trends, so that SMEs can produce goods that can be absorbed by the market. (Ant)
