Jakarta – Golkar Party DPP Chairman Airlangga Hartarto opened up the potential to form a coalition with Democrats in 31 regions in the 2020 Regional Elections, including Pacitan and North Sulawesi.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Golkar Party’s DPP Meutya Hafid when confirmed via text message in Jakarta on Thursday night.

Meutya Hafid claimed to only remember the two regions that had the potential to be carried by the Golkar Party along with the Democratic Party.

“Yes, just remember Pacitan, then the potential of North Sulawesi,” said Meutya stressed.

Earlier, Democratic Party DPP Chairperson Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and Golkar Party DPP Chairperson Airlangga Hartarto met to discuss opportunities for a coalition of the two parties.

AHY said that Democrats want to be able to build coalitions in regions with the Golkar Party in the 2020 elections.

“If it’s good, we can build coalitions in the regions,” AHY said in a meeting at the Golkar Party’s DPP Office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Thursday night.

In a closed meeting that lasted approximately 1 hour, the two parties also discussed the issue of cooperation at the provincial, district and city levels.

In addition to the 2020 elections, a number of issues were also discussed at the meeting, including related to the revival of the economy after the COVID-19 economy and the draft bill discussed at the House of Representatives. (Ant)
